A collaboration between German defense firms Helsing and HENSOLDT is transforming Europe’s next-generation uncrewed combat aircraft into a highly autonomous, intelligence-driven platform. The Munich-based Helsing is developing the CA-1 Europa drone, which will integrate HENSOLDT’s advanced sensor portfolio, including radar, optronics, electronic warfare, and self-protection systems. At the heart of the aircraft’s architecture is HENSOLDT’s Multi-Domain Operations Core (MDOcore) software, enabling real-time data fusion, cross-platform networking, and synchronized effects across multiple operational theaters. Rather than serving solely as a strike drone, the CA-1 is being positioned as a multi-domain intelligence node capable of supporting air, land, sea, cyber, and space operations.
