Russia’s NV.17 hybrid helicopter has entered the technical design phase following the completion of its initial and preliminary design stages. Developed by Heliburo, the medium-lift aircraft is intended to bridge the capability gap between light and heavy helicopter classes. The project aims to deliver a versatile platform suitable for a range of civilian and military support missions.
The NV.17 is being designed for multiple roles, including cargo transportation, passenger services and fire support. Its development reflects efforts to expand Russia’s helicopter manufacturing capabilities and introduce aircraft that can meet diverse operational requirements. The programme’s stated target is to conduct the helicopter’s maiden flight in 2027, although further development and testing will be required before the aircraft can enter service.
