Collins Aerospace has joined forces with the Royal Netherlands Air and Space Force (RNLASF) to establish a new military avionics service center designed to strengthen support for European F-35 and CH-47F fleets. The upcoming facility will handle repair, maintenance, and supply chain operations through a long-term government-owned, contractor-operated model. Initial depot capability is planned for 2026, marking a strategic expansion of the Netherlands’ role in regional sustainment for advanced aircraft.

Situated at the RNLASF Air Support Command base, the center will leverage Collins’ global military services network and deep depot-level expertise. It will function alongside the existing F-35 pilot readiness center in Soesterberg and Pratt & Whitney’s F135 engine depot, providing a full-spectrum lifecycle support ecosystem for Dutch and allied forces. The integration aims to reduce turnaround times for avionics repairs, improve aircraft availability, and strengthen readiness in complex and contested operational environments.

The Netherlands has significantly accelerated upgrades to its military avionics infrastructure over the past year. Collins Aerospace has expanded its footprint by introducing advanced diagnostics and repair solutions tailored to the F-35 program, complementing digital maintenance enhancements introduced by RNLASF. Meanwhile, Thales Nederland has modernized NH90 helicopter avionics with upgraded navigation, communication, and mission systems to ensure better interoperability across NATO fleets.

Amsterdam has also taken part in joint European exercises focused on validating next-generation networked avionics. These drills emphasized secure data exchange, improved sensor fusion, and enhanced resistance to electronic warfare—key elements in ensuring the Netherlands remains fully aligned with emerging allied defense standards.
