Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has been selected as one of 12 companies to participate in the Advanced Technology Support Program V (ATSP5), a 10-year, $25.4 billion multiple-award contract designed to address complex electronics and software challenges across the US defense enterprise. The program provides long-term engineering and technology modernization support for the US Department of Defense and other federal agencies.
Managed by the Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA), ATSP5 enables government customers to access advanced microelectronics, prototyping, and engineering expertise while accelerating modernization timelines. The contract is structured to tackle system obsolescence, support rapid fielding of new capabilities, and ensure continued operational readiness in the face of evolving threats.
Under ATSP5, HII will deliver system- and component-level engineering services, including reverse engineering, microelectronics assurance, and the redevelopment of previously obsolete systems. These efforts will leverage HII’s in-house tools and model-based engineering methodologies to improve performance, reliability, and lifecycle sustainment of critical defense systems.
The program covers a wide scope of hardware and software activities, ranging from feasibility studies and system design to software development, integration, testing, and limited production. ATSP5 is designed to streamline acquisition by allowing modular procurement and phased delivery of capabilities, with program performance overseen through regular Program Management Reviews conducted in coordination with DMEA.
