Cyprus has officially acquired the first two Airbus H145M multirole helicopters, delivered under the framework of a broader rotorcraft modernization initiative. This move is part of a contract to supply six advanced five-bladed platforms to the Cypriot National Guard, the primary military arm of the island nation. The delivery marks a key milestone in Cyprus’s efforts to enhance its airborne capabilities amid rising regional security concerns.
The remaining four helicopters are scheduled to arrive later in 2025. All aircraft in the fleet are equipped with the HForce weapons system, Airbus’ flexible armament integration suite that allows for rapid configuration of various weapon packages. This addition transforms the H145M from a utility helicopter into a versatile light-attack platform.
Cyprus is expected to use these helicopters for armed reconnaissance, troop transport, and border defense missions, increasing its operational autonomy and responsiveness in Mediterranean airspace.
