Destinus Group BV has finalized the acquisition of Swiss aviation AI specialist Daedalean AG in a deal valued at CHF 180 million (around USD 225 million), significantly strengthening its artificial intelligence capabilities across both defense and civil aviation domains. Based in Zürich, Daedalean is widely recognized for its expertise in safety-critical AI systems for aviation, and it will now operate as Destinus’ central hub for AI engineering, autonomous systems research, and advanced perception technologies.

Under the new structure, Daedalean will continue developing AI solutions for civilian aviation, focusing on pilot assistance, autonomous flight technologies, and next-generation navigation and perception systems. These efforts are aimed at improving flight safety, operational efficiency, and long-term modernization of commercial and general aviation platforms, while meeting stringent aviation certification standards.

At the same time, the integration is expected to accelerate Destinus’ defense-oriented AI development. Key applications include GNSS-denied navigation for contested environments, advanced seeker and perception technologies for interceptors, cruise missiles, and one-way attack systems, as well as autonomous mission planning for high-speed defense platforms. Additional capabilities cover swarming and multi-agent coordination for unmanned systems and sensor-fusion-driven onboard AI designed to enhance survivability and resilience in complex battlefield conditions.

According to Destinus, the acquisition reinforces its goal of delivering sovereign European AI capabilities through a vertically integrated, industrial-scale defense production model. The move strengthens the company’s autonomous systems portfolio while supporting national defense priorities and the parallel evolution of next-generation civil aviation technologies.
