Virginia-based Domo Tactical Communications (DTC) has launched the Sentry 6161, a next-generation tactical radio designed to meet the demanding needs of frontline forces. While its primary application is for military units, the system is also suitable for government agencies, emergency responders, critical infrastructure operators, and even select commercial users, giving it wide operational relevance.

At the core of the Sentry 6161 is a software-driven architecture that allows the radio to seamlessly switch between multiple bands and networks. This flexibility makes it ideal for missions that require quick adaptability, ensuring troops and operators can maintain reliable communications in diverse and unpredictable environments.

Practical considerations have also been factored into the design. The radio supports both traditional clip-on batteries and modern centralized power packs, helping to reduce overall weight while extending usage time during operations. Its ruggedized construction ensures continuity of command and control even in challenging conditions, such as areas affected by GPS jamming or damaged infrastructure.

DTC reports that recent military trials highlighted the Sentry 6161’s interoperability, confirming its ability to connect with allied networks, host different waveforms, and shift between power options without disruption. Thanks to its modular build, the system also enables easier maintenance, rapid repairs, and affordable long-term upgrades—making it both a battlefield-ready and cost-effective solution.
