Fincantieri has laid the keel for the first U212 Near Future Submarine for the Italian Navy, marking progress in replacing aging Sauro-class boats. Scheduled for service entry by 2029, the new submarine will feature advanced sensors, land-attack missiles, torpedoes, unmanned underwater vehicle integration, and enhanced electronic warfare capabilities.
