Saab and the French defence procurement agency, Direction générale de l’armement (DGA), have signed a joint declaration of intent today concerning the sale of Saab’s GlobalEye Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft to France, including ground support equipment, training, and services.
The declaration, signed at the Paris Air Show, reflects DGA’s plan to acquire two GlobalEye aircraft, with an option to purchase two additional units.
The procurement process will now advance to the final notification phase, with the DGA expecting to finalize the contract in the coming months. However, no contract has yet been signed, and Saab has not received an official order from France.
GlobalEye is a sophisticated multi-domain AEW&C platform equipped with a range of active and passive sensors for long-range detection and identification of air, sea, and land targets. By delivering real-time data to air forces, armies, and navies, it enhances situational awareness and provides early warning of threats.
