South Korea’s Hanwha Systems has secured a 54.7 billion won ($39.7 million) contract to develop a prototype multi-function radar (MFR) for the nation’s next-gen Long-range Surface-to-Air Missile II (L-SAM II) program. The new radar will deliver improved threat detection and tracking, using cutting-edge algorithms to intercept high-altitude targets more effectively. It is expected to surpass the capabilities of the current L-SAM radar system in range and overall performance.
