The Indian Air Force has officially issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to procure 97 more Tejas Mark-IA fighter aircraft. This step, which follows clearance from the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), represents a significant boost to India’s indigenous combat aircraft fleet. The new Tejas Mark-IA fighters will include over 65% domestically sourced components, supporting the country’s defense self-reliance ambitions. Compared to the earlier Mk-1 variant, the Mark-IA features major technological upgrades, enhancing performance and combat capability.
