During a significant diplomatic visit by the Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria, both countries deepened cooperation in defense, economic growth, and food security through the signing of several key agreements on November 12. A standout aspect of the visit was India’s proposal to supply the Nigerian Air Force with the LCA-Tejas Mk1A fighter jets. To support this, India has extended a $200 million Line of Credit to facilitate the purchase of the aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The Nigerian Air Force is aiming to modernize its fleet by replacing its aging Chengdu F-7Ni jets with the advanced, cost-efficient Tejas Mk1A, showcasing India’s commitment to expanding defense ties with Nigeria.
