The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force has inducted the fourth and final Awaji-class minesweeper, JS Nōmi (MSO-307), during a commissioning ceremony in Yokohama’s Tsurumi district. Built by Japan Marine United Corporation, construction began in 2021. Named after Nōmi Island in Hiroshima Prefecture, this is the second naval vessel to bear the name, the first being a 1944 Mikura-class escort ship.
