Finland and Sweden have finalized a joint contract worth 15 million euros ($17.5 million) with Finnish firm KNL for the supply of Cognitive Networked High Frequency (CNHF) Manpack radios. Deliveries under the agreement are scheduled to conclude by the end of this year.

The CNHF system is designed with advanced real-time spectrum sensing, capable of scanning more than 4,000 channels at once and automatically selecting the best option in less than a second. Operating autonomously, it continuously adjusts transmission parameters to sustain reliable connections, even in contested environments.

One of the key strengths of the radio is its ability to function effectively in satellite-denied areas, maintaining asynchronous communications without the need for GPS. This makes it particularly valuable for operations in environments where traditional navigation and satellite systems are compromised.

In addition, the CNHF supports encrypted voice, data, and multimedia, enabling secure communication across ranges from a few kilometers to several thousand. Its streamlined design requires just a single day of training, and its standard interfaces allow easy integration into existing tactical communications and command-and-control networks.
