Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and Safran Power Units have officially renewed their long-standing cooperation agreement for the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) propulsion systems, further strengthening a proven partnership. As part of the agreement, Safran will supply several hundred TR40 turbojet engines.

Safran Power Units has been a key engine supplier to Kongsberg for years, providing the TR40 engines that power the NSM. The missile’s growing success across the European Union and NATO has led both companies to deepen collaboration and align efforts to meet increasing production demands.

The new engine order secures Safran Power Units’ production workload well into the next decade, offering valuable long-term stability to support industrial growth, invest in capacity expansion, and enable sub-suppliers to scale up alongside them.

The NSM is a highly capable anti-ship missile, renowned for its advanced performance and ability to evade sophisticated enemy defenses. Initially deployed by the Royal Norwegian Navy in 2012, the NSM has since been adopted by several nations, including the United States, Poland, Romania, Canada, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Latvia, and Denmark.
