South Korea has launched the UH/HH-60 Black Hawk performance improvement program, targeting more than 30 helicopters in a $715-million effort led by Korean Air. The initiative will add digital cockpits with multi-function displays, radar warning receivers, survival management computers, and advanced communication tools. Obstacle avoidance and automatic hovering systems will enhance pilot safety and efficiency. Scheduled to finish in 2029, the project is expected to drive innovation in South Korea’s aerospace industry, producing dozens of new components while bolstering defense capabilities in both army special operations and air force rescue missions.
