Leonardo has been awarded a contract to supply the Italian Coast Guard with a Multirole Maritime Patrol aircraft derived from the ATR 42-600 commercial platform. This procurement is part of the service’s broader plan to upgrade its aerial fleet, which already includes three aircraft based on the ATR 42-200 and ATR 42-500 regional jet designs. The new aircraft will feature enhanced communication systems, along with advanced search and surveillance sensors capable of transmitting real-time data across the command chain.
