Lockheed Martin is strengthening its industrial ties with the Philippines through its F-16 Block 70 proposal for the country’s Multi-Role Fighter program. Partnering with Southern Methodist University’s Center for Digital and Human-Augmented Manufacturing and Deason Innovation Gym, the initiative will boost the Philippines’ capabilities in digital modeling, simulation, and advanced manufacturing.

The collaboration will also cover emerging technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence. Beyond tech transfer, the program will fund business incubation, government projects, academic initiatives, and create a dedicated research lab and training center for new technologies and intellectual property development.

The F-16 Block 70 is the latest and most advanced variant of the fighter jet, offering upgraded systems and enhanced mission capabilities. It is equipped with Northrop Grumman’s APG-83 AESA radar, a high-resolution Center Pedestal Display, Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod, and Legion-ES IRST passive sensor, all aimed at improving pilot awareness and survivability.

With an extended service life of 12,000 hours—50% longer than previous models—the Block 70 also features conformal fuel tanks and an upgraded engine for greater range without sacrificing aerodynamic performance.
