GDI Simulation, an MBDA subsidiary, is acquiring Agenium Group in a move designed to strengthen its military simulation and training capabilities with artificial intelligence technology. Following the transaction, Agenium will become a wholly owned subsidiary of GDI Simulation. The two organizations plan to combine their technologies and expertise to develop solutions supporting military analysis, experimentation, and training across land, air, maritime, and space domains. Agenium contributes experience in virtual training simulators, 3D content creation, synthetic environments, and AI-supported technologies. GDI Simulation, meanwhile, specializes in simulation software and military training solutions. The acquisition will allow Agenium’s AI capabilities to be incorporated into GDI Simulation’s existing portfolio. The combined organization is expected to have around 120 employees. The deal comes as armed forces increasingly explore AI not only for operational applications but also for training and exercise planning. In July, the US military began experimenting with a model that places engineers and trainers directly into operational missions to accelerate AI adoption. The British Army also announced plans for a digital Combat Laboratory combining live exercises, virtual battlefields, and AI-driven analysis as part of a £2-billion training program led by Omnia Training. Earlier, the US Marine Corps introduced mandatory basic AI training for active-duty and reserve personnel. Its 45-minute course covers fundamental AI concepts, practical uses, and decision-support technologies, including generative AI.
