Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has launched the Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel JCG Suruga and delivered JCG Daito, both part of the Miyako-class program developed to strengthen maritime security near the disputed Senkaku Islands. Built at the Tamano shipyard, the vessels are designed for law enforcement, rescue, and territorial patrol missions. The 117-meter ships feature powerful diesel engines, 25-knot speed, and 40-mm cannons, enhancing Japan’s coast guard operational capabilities.
