The Nagoya City Fire Bureau in Japan has placed an order for the Airbus H160 helicopter to strengthen its capabilities in aerial firefighting, search and rescue, and disaster response. The new aircraft will be equipped with modular mission configurations, allowing it to operate with either a firefighting bucket or a belly-mounted water tank to support wildfire suppression efforts.

The bureau, which began helicopter operations in 1973 with an Allouette III, currently maintains a fleet of two AS365N3 helicopters. With the addition of the H160, one of the older units will be retired, marking a modernization milestone in Nagoya’s aerial emergency services.

Recognized globally for its cutting-edge technology, the H160 combines safety, versatility, and comfort, and is designed to meet diverse operational needs, including law enforcement, offshore operations, EMS, and VIP transport. The aircraft is already in service in over a dozen countries, and its growing presence in Japan highlights its adaptability for varied missions.
