Spain’s Navantia shipyard in Cartagena has successfully integrated a Hydrogen-based Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) system into an S-80 class submarine, marking the first installation of a third-generation AIP system. This advancement significantly enhances the submarine’s underwater endurance. The achievement was celebrated in the presence of Admiral Aniceto Rosique Nieto and marks a historic step for Spain’s naval technology.
