Saab has officially launched ORP Henryk Zygalski, Poland’s second DELFIN-class signals intelligence (SIGINT) vessel, marking a key milestone in the country’s naval intelligence modernization program. The launch completes Poland’s two-ship DELFIN project, following the rollout of the lead vessel, ORP Jerzy Różycki, in July 2025.
With the hull now afloat, both DELFIN-class ships will proceed to the outfitting and mission system integration phase, during which advanced electronic intelligence equipment will be installed. After completion, the vessels are scheduled to undergo harbor and sea trials before entering active service with the Polish Navy.
Once operational, the ships will provide Poland with enhanced maritime electronic surveillance capabilities, enabling the detection, classification, and analysis of electromagnetic emissions across the maritime domain. These SIGINT platforms are expected to play a vital role in improving situational awareness, supporting NATO operations, and strengthening Poland’s intelligence collection in the Baltic Sea region.
Saab is serving as the prime contractor for the DELFIN program, while Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. is responsible for construction and MMC provides naval architecture and design expertise. Saab will also deliver and integrate the mission systems, working alongside Polish defense industry partners. Final deliveries are planned for 2027 and 2028, reflecting Poland’s broader defense modernization drive, which also includes the selection of Saab’s A26 submarines and expanded cooperation with WB Group on future defense technologies.
