Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of RTX, has secured a contract valued at up to $2.8 billion to produce engines for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. The deal will cover the manufacture of 141 F135 propulsion systems, supporting both US and allied operators.

The engines will be distributed among the US Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, as well as international partners and foreign military sales customers. This ensures broad support across the global fleet of fifth-generation fighters.

Production will be carried out at several facilities across the United States, with major operations centered in Connecticut, Indiana, and Washington. Additional work will be spread across states including Maine, California, Michigan, Oregon, Georgia, Virginia, and New Jersey, alongside select international sites.

Headquartered in East Hartford, Connecticut, Pratt & Whitney is expected to complete the effort by February 2028. Program oversight and coordination will be managed by the Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland.
