Romania, a NATO member, has signed an agreement with the United States to purchase 32 F-35 fighter jets, marking the country’s largest military investment to date. The $6.5 billion deal, approved by Romania’s parliament, comes more than two and a half years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and reflects the nation’s growing strategic role in the region. This acquisition represents an unprecedented defense expenditure for the eastern European country, which shares a border with Ukraine.
