Spain is developing a new counter-battery radar system designed to detect incoming artillery shells, rockets, and mortar rounds and quickly identify their point of origin. The radar, called RALOFI (Radar for Locating the Origin of Indirect Fire), uses an electronically scanned array architecture combined with gallium nitride semiconductors and software-defined radio technology. These features are expected to improve detection range, accuracy, and resistance to electronic interference, making it a powerful tool for modern battlefield surveillance and artillery response.
