In a major boost to Sweden’s naval capabilities, Saab has received a new order worth 900 million SEK (approximately $94 million USD) to deliver 22 advanced CB90HSM combat boats. These vessels will be constructed at the Docksta shipyard, with a phased delivery schedule over the next few years.

The CB90HSM, or High-Speed Maneuverable variant of the CB90, is the most advanced version of this proven platform. Made entirely of aluminum, the boat is engineered for swift deployment in demanding coastal missions. It offers upgrades in speed, combat systems, maneuverability, and real-time situational awareness, making it a formidable asset for naval operations.

This deal builds on a previous Swedish order from June 2024, when 10 similar boats were acquired for roughly $38 million, reflecting an ongoing commitment to enhance maritime force readiness.

The CB90HSM spans 16.3 meters in length with a 14.9-meter hull and features a minimal draft of 0.9 meters, making it ideal for operations in shallow waters. It can travel at speeds over 40 knots (74 km/h), maintain a cruising speed of 38 knots (70 km/h), and cover distances up to 300 nautical miles (555 km). These features make it an excellent choice for high-speed troop transport, coastal defense, and special operations support.
