The Swedish Air Force has confirmed the acquisition of four C-390 Millennium tactical airlifters from Brazil’s Embraer Aerospace, supporting both domestic and expeditionary missions. Final assembly will occur in São Paulo, with deliveries to follow after technical finalization.
Intended to replace older air transport capabilities, the C-390 offers rapid cargo and troop deployment, airdrop capability, and the ability to operate from short and damaged runways—especially crucial in European expeditionary missions and northern logistic hubs.
With this buy, Sweden increases its interoperability with NATO and regional partners while improving response to humanitarian crises, Arctic logistics, and forward defense activities.
