Saab has been awarded a 1.1-billion-krona ($119 million) contract by Sweden to supply Arthur artillery-locating radar systems along with long-term support services for the Swedish Armed Forces. The agreement was signed with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027.

The Arthur radar is a fully digital, high-performance counter-battery system capable of detecting and tracking multiple artillery rounds simultaneously. By analyzing projectile trajectories shortly after launch, the radar calculates the point of origin of incoming fire and provides early warning alerts, enhancing force protection for both military units and civilian infrastructure.

The variant selected by Sweden can detect indirect fire threats at ranges of up to 100 kilometers, including artillery shells, rockets, and mortars. Saab will also integrate the radar systems onto military vehicles, ensuring rapid deployment and mobility across a variety of operational environments.

Designed for survivability in contested battlespaces, the Arthur radar features a low infrared and electronic emission profile, reducing vulnerability to enemy sensors and electronic warfare systems. The contract includes support services for up to 15 years, options for additional systems, and a procurement framework that allows partner nations to join the program in the future.
