Airbus Helicopters has signed a new agreement with the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) for the delivery of two additional H225 multi-role helicopters. The aircraft are expected to provide a major boost to Thailand’s operational capacity in search and rescue (SAR) and emergency medical service (EMS) missions, further supporting both national security and humanitarian commitments.
This procurement expands the RTAF’s existing fleet of H225Ms, which have been in service since 2015. The H225M platform has proven its versatility in a wide range of critical missions, including combat search and rescue (CSAR), troop transport, and conventional SAR flights. By strengthening this fleet, the RTAF is ensuring it has reliable assets ready to respond to emergencies and defense requirements alike.
In addition to the H225M, the Royal Thai Air Force also operates H135 training helicopters, reflecting a longstanding relationship with Airbus. The completion and integration work for the two new helicopters will be undertaken by Thai Aviation Industries (TAI) in partnership with Airbus, ensuring smooth local support and technical expertise within Thailand.
Globally, more than 360 H225 and H225M helicopters are in service, amassing close to 980,000 flight hours. The platform is a trusted asset for many international operators, with military customers spanning Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, including countries such as France, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, and Kuwait.
