On October 17, 2024, GE Aerospace announced that its reliable and high-performance engines will be assembled and tested by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bangalore, India, continuing a partnership that began in 1986. India is constructing missile vessels that will feature advanced anti-surface weapons and reach speeds up to 35 knots. These ships will be powered by six LM2500 marine gas turbine engine kits, plus auxiliary systems and composite enclosures from GE Aerospace.
