The U.S. Army has granted Boeing a Lot 3 contract worth $135 million (€127.7 million) to produce three additional CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters, as announced on December 4, 2024. This contract follows the Army’s February 2024 decision to move the CH-47F Block II program into full-rate production. So far, Boeing is tasked with delivering nine helicopters from a planned total of 465. Funding for the new batch of three helicopters has already been approved by Congress. Boeing had previously received a separate contract to source long-lead components. The first two Block II helicopters were delivered in June and September 2024, respectively—marking a key step in updating the Army’s heavy-lift aviation assets.
