South Korea and the United Arab Emirates have signed a letter of intent to enhance collaboration around the KF-21 Boramae fighter, reflecting Seoul’s vision for expanded defense partnerships in the Middle East and beyond. Signed by the Republic of Korea Air Force Chief of Staff and UAE Air Force leadership, the agreement paves the way for UAEAF involvement in exercises and drills related to Korea’s advanced multirole aircraft.

This arrangement grants UAE Air Force personnel first-hand exposure to the KF-21 platform, including direct participation in operational exercises and advanced air combat training. UAE delegates also recently toured Korea Aerospace Industries’ facilities, inspecting the fighter’s production line and familiarizing themselves with its manufacturing standards and capabilities.

The agreement signals a new era of technology and knowledge exchange in military aviation. While no purchase has yet been confirmed, the UAE’s growing engagement suggests an appetite for collaborative development and access to emerging aerospace platforms. Broader still, the deal offers a framework for multinational joint development and training as South Korea courts cooperation in both Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
