The Uruguayan Air Force has taken delivery of two A-29 Super Tucanos from Embraer, marking the first arrivals under a six-aircraft order signed last year.
Beyond the aircraft themselves, the package includes mission systems, a flight simulator, and logistical support designed to enhance Uruguay’s aerial surveillance and border protection capabilities.
Embraer described the delivery as a milestone in a relationship dating back more than 50 years, when Uruguay became its first overseas customer.
The Super Tucano, operational with 22 air forces and boasting over 600,000 flight hours, is widely recognized for its versatility and ability to operate from remote airstrips.
Enhancements rolled out in 2025 equipped the aircraft with improved anti-drone systems, laser-guided weaponry, EO/IR tracking sensors, and advanced fleet management software.
