The U.S. Army is set to begin prototyping a new modular electronic warfare (EW) kit in 2026. The system is being designed to function across a wide range of military platforms, enhancing flexibility and adaptability on the battlefield.

Known as the Modular Mission Payload (MMP), the kit forms a key part of the Army’s Transformation Initiative, which seeks to modernize defense capabilities through a plug-and-play framework. This initiative aims to standardize platforms, systems, and software to ensure greater interoperability across the service.

According to officials from the Army’s Intelligence, EW and Sensors program office, the effort is still in its early development phase. They emphasized that the coming fiscal year will be focused on exploring the system’s technical feasibility and deployment potential.

As production quantities and operational requirements are yet to be determined, the Army intends to use the prototyping stage to assess how many units will be necessary and where they can be best integrated into existing formations.
