The US Air Force has awarded Boeing contracts worth $2.43 billion to continue development work on the E-7A Wedgetail airborne early warning and control aircraft. A significant portion of the funding will accelerate prototype development and improvements to the aircraft’s mission systems, which may include radar, sensors, and battle-management software. The program aims to strengthen airborne surveillance capabilities and provide the military with advanced command-and-control tools. Work will primarily take place in Seattle, Washington, with additional development activities in Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ohio.
