The US Navy has officially inducted its 25th Virginia-class attack submarine, USS Massachusetts (SSN-798), enhancing its underwater warfare strength. Built under a long-term Block IV program, the submarine incorporates improvements aimed at reducing maintenance needs and increasing deployment availability. It continues the legacy of previous vessels named Massachusetts, dating back centuries. Designed to replace aging Los Angeles-class submarines, it supports missions such as intelligence gathering, anti-submarine warfare, and precision strikes using advanced weapons like Tomahawk missiles. Its nuclear-powered system allows long operational endurance without refueling.
