The Russian Navy has expanded its fleet of amphibious warfare ships with the launch of the RFS Vladimir Andreyev, a third Ivan Gren-class vessel produced by Yantar USC. The unveiling took place at the Kaliningrad shipbuilding center, marking another milestone in Moscow’s naval modernization efforts. This series aims to deliver up to 11 ships tailored for enhanced maritime combat and support roles.
The launch ceremony featured the presence of Admiral Alexander Moiseyev and USC’s Svetlana Morik, reinforcing the strategic importance of this vessel. As it enters the outfitting phase, the ship is expected to be commissioned by 2026. It will ultimately be deployed with the Russian Pacific Fleet, playing a crucial role in replacing older, less capable amphibious platforms.
