AeroVironment has introduced the P550, an unmanned electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft system aimed at the US Army’s long-range reconnaissance program. Featuring a modular design, the P550 can be quickly adapted in the field for a range of missions, from surveillance to strike operations, without the need for external tools. Classified as a Group 2 unmanned aircraft, it weighs between 21 and 55 pounds (10 to 25 kilograms) and can operate at altitudes up to 3,500 feet (1,067 meters).
