French firm Exail and Spain’s Grafinta will supply the UmiX-40 Inertial Measurement Unit for Airbus’ SIRTAP tactical drone. The compact unit uses proprietary fiber-optic gyroscopes and vibrating beam accelerometers to ensure accurate, stable navigation—especially when GPS is unavailable. Its plug-and-play setup, high bandwidth, and 3D sensing capabilities make it ideal for extended surveillance and reconnaissance operations in harsh environments.
