Diehl Defence and POLARIS, two German defense companies, have joined forces to develop an innovative unmanned missile launch platform known as the Airborne Launching and Attack System (AirLAS). This system combines the IRIS-T air-to-air missile from Diehl with a reusable drone developed by POLARIS.
AirLAS is designed to offer military forces a more affordable and efficient method of launching precision-guided weapons from the air—eliminating the need for piloted aircraft in such missions.
