German defense technology company ARX Robotics has unveiled its new Combat Gereon unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), a system designed with the principle of “first unmanned contact.” The approach seeks to deploy robots into hazardous missions ahead of troops, reducing risks to human soldiers.

The Combat Gereon is based on ARX’s existing Gereon RCS platform but has been redesigned as a combat-oriented variant. Enhancements include AI-driven capabilities that allow the vehicle to respond more effectively to complex battlefield scenarios.

At the heart of the platform lies the Mithra operating system, which supports connectivity between fleets of unmanned systems. Mithra enables seamless updates with little downtime and ensures that the vehicle can adapt to various mission requirements.

By combining modular design, AI integration, and advanced software, ARX Robotics positions the Combat Gereon as a next-generation robotic asset that could transform how militaries approach high-risk operations.
