In a bid to revolutionize naval warfare through autonomy, Lockheed Martin Ventures has joined forces with emerging tech firm HavocAI to speed up the development of weaponized unmanned surface vessels (mUSVs) for the United States military. These medium-sized drone boats are being engineered to perform complex missions—such as armed patrols, surveillance, and strike operations—without human operators on board.

The collaboration leverages the strengths of both companies: Lockheed Martin contributes its deep experience in integrating weapons systems, while HavocAI brings cutting-edge autonomous control software to the table. Together, they aim to deliver smart, mission-ready vessels capable of operating independently in high-risk maritime zones.

This project represents a broader shift toward robotic naval warfare, where unmanned assets can act as force multipliers, reduce exposure of human crews, and adapt rapidly to emerging threats at sea. The Lockheed–HavocAI partnership underscores the growing importance of AI-enhanced, unmanned maritime systems in modern defense strategies.
