Latvian defense technology firm Origin Robotics and Estonia’s Defsecintel Solutions have formalized a partnership to strengthen the European Union’s cross-border “drone wall” initiative targeting persistent Russian incursions in eastern European airspace. The memorandum of understanding was signed during the Estonian Defence Week, marking a joint commitment to counter drone threats with advanced mobile solutions.

The partnership pairs Defsecintel’s Eirshield, an AI-assisted ultra-short-range air defense system, with Origin’s autonomous drone interceptor called Blaze, to deliver a comprehensive counter-drone capability. The integrated solution is intended to provide users with a mobile, turnkey system efficiently tackling multi-rotor and fixed-wing UAV threats.

Eirshield stands out for its rapid deployment and proven performance, especially following tests in Ukraine. It employs sophisticated radar for detection at ranges up to 8 kilometers, working alongside radio frequency sensors and electro-optical/infrared cameras to confirm and classify aerial targets. Once identified, AI-driven algorithms assist in jamming radio and satellite navigation signals, and the platform can also coordinate soft-kill interceptor drones or hard-kill weapons such as machine guns and missiles.

Complementing Eirshield, the Blaze interceptor offers highly mobile, operator-supervised engagement against drones that slip past conventional defenses. Blaze uses onboard AI and computer vision to track and neutralize threats either by direct impact or via an explosive warhead deployed near the target. The launch case serves as both its charging station and launch pad, with a tool-free setup enabling drone launches within minutes—ensuring responsive air defense in critical border zones.
