Norwegian manufacturer Blueye Robotics has teamed up with Dutch partner RVI Tools to deliver a fleet of underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to the Royal Netherlands Navy. The deal marks another step in the Netherlands’ effort to strengthen its undersea operational capabilities.

Although the exact number of ROVs was not disclosed, the systems are expected to feature cutting-edge technologies suited for naval operations. Designed with robust engineering, the underwater vehicles will support a wide range of tasks, particularly for naval engineers and mine countermeasure (MCM) units.

The decision to award Blueye and RVI Tools came after a competitive tender process that attracted multiple international defense and technology providers. By securing this contract, the two firms have established themselves as reliable suppliers to the Dutch armed forces in a growing field of autonomous maritime systems.

The acquisition highlights the Netherlands’ ongoing commitment to modernizing its naval assets, ensuring safer and more efficient undersea missions. With ROVs becoming increasingly important for both security and operational flexibility, the Dutch Navy is expected to benefit from improved underwater reconnaissance and explosive ordnance disposal capabilities.
