EDGE Group of the UAE and US defense innovator Anduril have launched a major joint venture aimed at accelerating the development and production of next-generation autonomous air systems. The newly established EDGE–Anduril Production Alliance marks one of the most significant regional collaborations in the autonomous defense sector. Its first flagship project will be the Omen hover-to-cruise Autonomous Air Vehicle, a platform engineered for long-range, high-payload missions and runway-independent operations.
As part of the agreement, the UAE has committed to an initial order of 50 Omen units, creating immediate demand for large-scale production. This commitment will help expand local supply chains, strengthen domestic manufacturing, and fast-track mass production timelines. Designed for dual-use scenarios, the Omen can support a wide range of missions—from strategic military operations to commercial applications such as logistics, communications support, and disaster-relief delivery.
The alliance combines Anduril’s advanced software ecosystem, including its AI-driven Lattice Mission Autonomy platform, with EDGE’s regional manufacturing expertise and deep understanding of Middle Eastern operational requirements. Together, the companies expect to rapidly move from initial design phases to full-rate production by late 2028, while ensuring full compliance with both US and UAE export, technology, and operational regulations.
This joint venture builds on a long history of US-UAE defense cooperation. The UAE has previously acquired platforms such as the F-35 fighter jet, MQ-9 Reaper drones, and advanced munitions including JDAM kits and AGM-114 Hellfire missiles. Partnerships with Lockheed Martin and Raytheon have contributed to local co-production of radar systems, missile-defense components, and electronic-warfare technologies. The UAE also continues to work with American firms on autonomous platforms and participates in joint training exercises integrating US combat systems into regional operations.
