California-based startup Grid Aero has officially emerged from stealth mode to introduce the Lifter-Lite, an autonomous cargo drone described as the “pickup truck of the skies.” The system is designed to provide heavy-lift logistics support in both civilian and defense environments.

Developed in only six months, the drone is capable of transporting thousands of pounds of cargo over long distances, with the ability to scale payload capacity and range depending on mission requirements. This adaptability makes it suitable for diverse scenarios, from humanitarian relief to battlefield resupply.

The Lifter-Lite combines traditional aviation controls with artificial intelligence-driven autonomy, enabling it to operate efficiently in a wide range of environments. Its design allows for precision supply drops and extended endurance, making it a strong candidate for global logistics challenges.

Beyond cargo transport, the drone has potential applications in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR). Its ability to function in contested or denied airspace provides military operators with an additional tool for delivering supplies while maintaining situational awareness.
