Israeli drone manufacturer Xtend has secured a contract to deliver 5,000 first-person view (FPV) attack drones to the Israeli Ground Forces. The deal, valued at nearly 20 million shekels ($5.87 million), will see each drone supplied at a cost of 3,500 shekels ($40).

The agreement not only includes the drones but also provides operating stations and virtual reality (VR) glasses for operators. Reports suggest the contract contains an option for an additional 5,000 units, indicating a potential large-scale integration of the system into Israel’s combat structure.

The drones, measuring 10 inches (25 centimeters) in size, can carry payloads up to 2.5 kilograms (5.5 pounds), making them highly effective for tactical strikes. Designed for modern battlefields, these systems are expected to significantly enhance operational flexibility.

Deployment is anticipated at the company level within combat battalions, where the drones will strengthen precision strike capabilities and address emerging threats on the battlefield.
