Kraken Technology (UK) and NVL Group (Germany) have established a joint venture to accelerate the design and production of unmanned surface vessels (USVs). The partnership reflects rising demand worldwide for scalable uncrewed systems that can serve both military and civilian missions, including the protection of critical assets.

Through the collaboration, NVL will leverage its shipbuilding expertise in naval fabrication and system integration, while Kraken will benefit from NVL’s large-scale production knowledge to advance its autonomous, cost-effective maritime solutions.

As part of the deal, NVL has already made a strategic investment in Kraken and is considering participation in another funding round scheduled for late 2025. This investment strengthens their long-term commitment to the program.

Manufacturing will be conducted jointly at NVL’s Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg and Kraken’s facilities in the UK, ensuring a balanced presence across Germany, Britain, and the wider European market. Production is expected to begin this year, starting with smaller boats before expanding to larger, more capable platforms.
