In a groundbreaking demonstration, Boeing and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) successfully executed a mission targeting an airborne threat using two live MQ-28 Ghost Bat aircraft and a third virtual aircraft, all controlled remotely from an airborne E-7A Wedgetail.

During the exercise, a single operator aboard the E-7A seamlessly directed the uncrewed MQ-28s, demonstrating their role in flying ahead of and shielding crewed platforms.

The mission was powered by software co-developed by Boeing Defence Australia, the Defence Science and Technology Group, and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratories.

This test is part of the broader Capability Demonstration 2025 (CD25) series, which will continue to showcase the operational potential of the MQ-28 and its integration with RAAF crewed assets. Upcoming demonstrations will feature coordinated missions alongside platforms such as the F/A-18F and F-35.
